The Valdosta Wildcats won the 1971 GHSA Class AAA Championship Game by defeating Avondale Blue Devils 62-12. The team finished 13-0 and is widely considered as one of the best teams in the history of Georgia high school football. The team was coached by Wright Bazemore and led by star player Stan Rome.
